My dog's stool has undigested food on new high-carb dehydrated food. Normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 6 years and 1 month old | 17 lbs

This question is for david elezbeth: Is 30-50% carbs an appropriate amount in dog food? I just started my dog on honest kitchen dehydrated dog food and these are the typical range in carbs. Is this to much? Also some reviewers have posted that their dog had more voluminous stool and went more frequently with bits of food still present in the stool. Is this normal? Chloe seems to be doing fine but I am noticing the bits of food in her stool. Is this ok to continue with this food?

This looks like a very good quality food, 30-40% carbs is acceptable. usually the larger the amount of stools is, the less digestible is the food. I'v never had personal experience so what i can tell you regarding this food is superficial and according to the ingredient list.
