How to help my older Persian cat and new tabby kitten get along?

I have a 4 year old Persian cat that I've had ever since she was a kitten. Just last year I rescued a tabby kitten and we used to keep them separated however recently I started keeping them together. They were okay in the beginning but my Persian would hiss and growl whenever the tabby came near her. The tabby attempt to play with the other cat but my Persian simply won't have it. Is there a way to make them get a long? Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 5 months old | 5 lbs
