My cat is hiding, sick, uncomfortable, and not moving. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

My Cat has been hiding in my home and when I found her she seemed sickly. Her eyes aren’t very open and she seems uncomfortable. She may be constipated. I am very concerned. She doesn’t wanna move much which is not common at all for her. She was meowing uncomfortably which she never does. What is wrong and what should I do? Thank you

I am sorry that Katara is not feeing well. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to diagnose her over the internet. She needs an exam by a vet in person. Her symptoms are not specific for any one illness or disease process so I am not sure what differential diagnoses to give you. Constipation is definitely a possibility - if that is the case you can't treat this at home. Whatever you do, DO NOT try to give her an over the counter enema treatment for people. It is very high in potassium and can kill her. My suggestion is for you to get her to your vet for an exam ASAP. That way you can figure out what is going on and she can get the proper treatment. Sounds like she is in pain and she doesn't look like she is feeling well in those photos...... Best wishes and I hope Katara is back to feeling better soon.
