Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 10 lbs
Hi, I have a one year old shih tzu and as long as I remember he has a small brown patch on his left sclera and this eye has more discharge than the other one. And recently there is no changing in size or color. I'm concerned about any infection or inflammation please help me I don't have access to any veterinarian. My dog is very important to me. Thanks

If the brown area is on the sclera only and does not affect the cornea at all it is probably normal pigment and nothing to be concerned about. This is common in brachycephalic breeds. The discharge could be from irritation caused by hairs rubbing near the eye, a blocked tear duct, conjunctivitis, or even dry eye or a corneal ulcer. If the eye seems at all red or irritated I would recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as you can. Otherwise it is probably okay to continue to monitor as long as it is a small amount of clear discharge.
