Can I bury my pet bird in a plant pot? Will it harm the plant?

My dear budgie has died. He has a friend that I am keeping a close eye on. As it was only 24hrs we lost Barney, his brother is a little lost and quite today (as am I ). My question is: Can I put my boy in a large pot and add soil to plant a scrub for him? Would his de caying body damage soil for a plant? Any help appreciated. Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 6 years and 1 month old
