Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Female | spayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 83 lbs
My 85 Pound Doberman just ate a 500mg Naproxen. I talked to an Emergency Vets Office and they advised that given her size she should be fine. Just double checking as I’m worried!

Considering that Naproxen has a very narrow safety margin and a maximum dose of 2mg/kg is described in literature, your dog would have received a seven-fold dose, ie 500mg /35kg = 14 mg/kg, thus making it likely that he may develop some stomach and kidney trouble. I would recommend that you call ASPCA's poison control number. That number is 888-426-4435. There is a $65 charge, but they will be able to best advise you. Please have the label available so you can let them know the amount of medication listed and what any other potentially concerning ingredients were. I hope thats helpful, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
