Dog paw poked by grass, now red and irritated. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 4 years and 9 months old | 8 lbs

So my baby just got poked on her paw in between the paw pads by dead grass in my back yard like 10 mins ago: we noticed her limping so i picked her up and looked. I got it out and checked to make sure i got everything out. She isnt bleeding so it didnt go through. Its red like it was irrated. I rushed in and sprayed it with a liquid bandage and now she isnt limping. Should i still take her to the vet?

Get some Epsom salt and bathe her foot in warm epsom salt solution for 10 minutes. Do this a few times. Check her paw again for any residue and remove any of the grass. By tomorrow this should be better. If it swells or gets worse, there may be some in or under the skin and it may be better to have Dove's paw examined by your vet.
