My 10 month old kitten has a sore on the side of her mouth. Losing hair around the site..what is this and should I be concerned? Her appetite is unaffected. She is scheduled to be spayed but I don't want her out under of there is an infection present...please advise an anxious mommy!!! Thank you!!!

This does not look very concerning and it certainly would not be necessary to postpone her spay. Observe the lesion for spread. Let the vet know about it and have him check it for ringworm or a bacterial skin infection. If it is bacterial it is easily treated with antibiotics and if it is ringworm she will need antifungal medication. It also just may be a scrape that is healing now.
