Some dander is normal for all birds, and can appear as white flakes that shed from the skin. Giving Meenu a bath with a shallow dish filled with water, or by gently misting him with a water bottle can help encourage him to preen. Sometimes, parasites may appear as flecks of "stuff" shedding from the skin or attached to the base of the feathers. If you suspect this may be the case, using a mite spray or mite powder can help treat any parasites that may be causing it. If you notice any visible wounds, redness to the skin, or other signs of illness in addition to the flaking, having a vet take a look in person is always best.
