Why is my shelter kitten sneezing, stuffed up, and scratching ears?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 2 days old

Im a new kitten mom. Brought my little kitten home from the shelter on Sunday. Since hes been home, hes been sneezing and scratching at his ears and sounds stuffed up sometimes. It sounds like allergies but what would be some things he would be allergic too. Hes almost 10 weeks

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would actually be more concerned about an upper respiratory infection. This is common in young cats and in most cases it responds to antibiotics. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment. They would be able to check for this and start therapy accordingly. Good luck and have a good night!
