My dog fell, leg stiff, X-ray clear. Could it be a soft tissue injury?

Pet's info: Cat | Exotic | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 25 lbs

Hello. My dog, Vito, a 25 pound exotic bully fell from around 10ft due to another dog accidentally pushing him. He's not exactly lumping, but his lower right leg is rather stiff, and I can see his reluctance when jumping to a 1ft platform. I brought him to the vet immediately, but Xray shows no fracture at all- is that even possible. Anyway, I'm really worried since my dog didnt really cry at the start nor showed symptoms of pain, but is now (6 hours larer) a lot more "behaved" than usual.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Vito. If a fracture has been ruled out by x-rays, then I suspect that he suffered a painful soft tissue injury. He likely has a fair amount of swelling causing the firmness that you feel. I assume that his veterinarian prescribed him pain medication. Keep him very quiet and give the medication as directed. If he was not given any medication, do not give any over-the-counter pain medication as these can be toxic to dogs. Contact your veterinarian for one if it was not provided. If he does have medication, but it does not seem to be strong enough than ask for a secondary one to be added. I hope this information helps!
