Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 8 lbs
My parents' cat has an unidentifiable skin condition that causes severe scabbing, acne-like rashes all over her body. She was seen by several different vets and was tested for everything, but no one knows what it is. She tested negative for any allergies or type of infection. Her condition worsens because she scratches a lot to relieve excessive itching. I recently learned about the prescription Apoquel for dogs. Is there an equivalent for cats, or a treatment that is similar?

I'm so sorry to hear that Lexi has such severe itching. I am attaching a handout below that discusses the available treatments for itching for dogs and cats. https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951477 Unfortunately, there is no product like Apoquel for cats. However, if your vet has not tried it yet, you could consider Atopica (cyclosporine). Also, if Lexi has not been examined by a dermatologist, I would strongly recommend that. You can find a dermatologist near you here. https://www.acvd.org/tools/locator/locator.asp?ids=16_Find_Dermatologist Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.
