Pet's info: Dog | Poodle | Female | spayed | 5 months and 26 days old | 36 lbs
My 6 months old standard poodle pup Coco, 28lbs, was playing with another 40lbs dog. That dog ran towards my pup from far distance really fast and hit Coco on her side. (Chest, left lung area) and there was a loud sound for the “collision”, Coco didn’t cry, and she seems normal, eat normal, play normal and sleep normal after 20 hours of that accident. Should I be concerned and take her in to check her side ribs or lung? I am a first time dog owner, I am very worried. Thank you so much.

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Coco is otherwise normal and there is no indication she is experiencing any pain, no real need to rush off to the veterinarian. However, if you notice she is tender or painful to the touch on the side of the collision, is experiencing breathing abnormalities, becomes lethargic or has a sudden decrease in appetite, I would recommend bringing her in to see her veterinarian for an exam and perhaps x-rays. I hope this helps!

Poor Coco! Given that she seems normal, is eating and playing normally, and is sleeping normally, I don't think a vet visit is required. You would have seen changes in her behavior from the normal if she was injured. I hope this helps alleviate your worries!
