Should I be worried about my 18lb dog's 40mg Cytopoint dose?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 9 years and 6 months old | 18 lbs

I took my dog to the vet Saturday and she got a cut opining injection and augmentin tablets. When I just looked at her paperwork, it shows he gave her 40mg of cytopoint. She only weighs 18.4 pounds. Do you think it was intentional or a mistake? Should I be worried for her? She’s been fine and the only difference is she’s not itchy anymore and her skin looks much better. Her cytopoint lasted a little les than 3 weeks last time. Before and after pictures.

I do not think you have to worry as it is an immunological product, ie works similar to a vaccination. Sometimes veterinarians will adjust a dosage individually according to the response of the dog's immune system. I suggest you give your vet a call and just ask him. I am sure he can and will explain.
