My dog won't eat prescription food. Can I mix it with old food?

Duke has been prescribed Hills weight management and mobility issue is he doesn’t seem to like it unless I mix it with a little bit of his old (blue buffalo) wet food. I give him about half the recommended amount of dry and make up the difference with the wet food. Is this acceptable? Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 10 years and 7 months old | 23 lbs

Unfortunately no, this isn't acceptable. I'm assuming your vet put him on the weight management food for a reason, and by adding in the blue buffalo, you are giving him extra calories he doesn't need. It negates the point of the weight management food. I would just feed him the Hill's only. If he's hungry, he will eat it. I hope this helps.
