Hi, my 4 month old male kitten has recently started licking his sister's butt area. He has also started taking his penis out while grooming himself. Is this a sign of him starting to get sexually active? They have an appointment to be neutered the 2nd of October so I was wondering if I should reschedule for an earlier date. Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 5 days old

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It may be that they are heading towards sexual maturity or the female cat expressed her anal glands. Most neutered male cats will lick themselves while their penis is out. I would consider neutering him sooner, as long as he is 5 lbs I think it is fine to do before 6 months of age. Good luck!
