Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | neutered | 40 lbs
My 8 month old Border Collie has been acting strange for the past 5-6 hours. Lethargic, staying right by my side, flopping down whenever I stop walking. He vomited an hour ago. He still seems lethargic

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There can be a variety of conditions that are causing Jake's symptoms. Gastrointestinal disorders, obstructions, bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections as well as pancreatitis among others. I would recommend Jake be seen by his veterinarian as soon as possible so he can be appropriately evaluated and treated. Your veterinarian may recommend blood work, x-rays, and other diagnosis tests to help aide in diagnosis for Jake. I hope this helps and I hope you are able to get him seen soon!

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach to address your concern. It is difficult to say what the cause could be as there are many causes of diarrhea and vomiting. If they did not test his blood, I would certainly recommend doing so. This could be from some type of systemic infection, a toxin he potentially ate or something he ate causing these symptoms. Your veterinarian likely wants to see him back for a follow up and additional treatments such as anti-vomiting medications and hydration treatment such as subcutaneous fluids. If there is no improvement, you might consider abdominal x-rays to see if there are any abdominal abnormalities. If Jake is not up to date on all of his vaccinations, then I would also consider testing him for Parvo virus. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
