Is my dog's heavy panting and drinking after playing in 95F normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 8 months old

If temperature outside is 95 Fahrenheit then in that temperature my dog plays for only 5 to 10 minutes and his to guess become so big and after while he drinks water and sits so is that ok or I should go for his blood work and in blood work which or what test I should go for to done

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the increased water drinking is only after playing (no matter the length of time) in 95 F weather then that is normal. That is hot weather for a thick coated dog. I would limit his time outside to only 5-10 mins when it is that hot. At this time I do not think he needs blood work. If he is drinking a lot with minimal activity in the cool weather then maybe he does. Good luck!
