My dog has severe seasonal allergies. Could this cause low platelets?

Would severe seasonal allergies cause the platelet count to drop in dogs?

No, severe allergies would not cause low platelets. However, dogs with an in appropriately responding immune system (over reactive) to allergens may also be over responding and attacking its own platelets. Of course there are many other causes such as tick borne infections and cancer. Best of luck and I hope Gucci improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
