Why is my dog not eating, lethargic, sad, and has orange poop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 65 lbs

My dog will not eat anything but drinks normal amount of water. She wont even eat treats or anything. She stopped being excited and just lays around looking sad. Doesn't get excited for anything. A little orange is in her poop. She has no pain (or at least doesn't act like it) my wife has lightly pressed on her stomach and checked her teeth for painful reactions and nothing. I have been away for schooling for about 4 weeks but I am usually around her 90% of the time when I'm home.

Hi there and thank you for posting your concern. If Suzi still not eating any food and seems lethargic or has less energy, then I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate Diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. There may be something systemic going on that will require blood testing to reveal. Abdominal x-rays may also be something to consider for a work up. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
