Is my dog's strange reaction to Epsom salt on her paw normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 6 months old | 70 lbs

Roxie was acting rather rambunctious after I dipped her paw in the epsom salt and was trying to hide away from me to lick her paw but calmed down once I rinsed it with some water. Is that typical behavior?

It could be that the texture of the Epsom salt caused Roxie to act a little differently, and she wanted to get it off her paw because she didn't like the feel of it on her. It's not something I would be concerned about, I hope this helps!
