How to help a neighbor's puppy left alone and crying safely?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My neighbor just got a 10 week old puppy. It's a beautiful little pit bull. He works all the time and is out alot too. He lives alone. My problem is, he is leaving the poor little puppy alone for long periods of time by himself, in a crate. I can hear the poor little guy crying... It's breaking my heart. My neighbor and I don't get along. He is in a Gang and hangs out with dangerous people. I can't confront him. My husband and I are older and can't have problems. Any ideas to help the puppy?

Oh this is such a sad situation! You can give your local SPCA or animal control a call to do a welfare check on the puppy. This can be done anonymously, so your neighbor won't know it's you that called. I hope this helps!

If you are concerned about this puppy but don't want to interact with your neighbor, you can call your local animal control or SPCA to make an anonymous complaint. This will send them out on a welfare visit to make sure the puppy is ok. I hope this helps.
