My kitten is vomiting and lethargic after neuter surgery. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 months and 7 days old | 3.1 lbs

3mo kitten neutered yesterday. Pre med with bupsr, sedated with telazol, and given Meloxicam post op. Was BAR, e/d and doing well up until noon today. Now is VERY lethargic, vomiting, and refusing food. And is dehydrated. and seems painful abdominally. Incision and tattoo site look great- no swelling, bruising or bleeding. Thoughts

Hi there. I would recommend getting Shoebox to a veterinarian as soon as you can. These signs are not normal after a neuter and he needs to be examined. He could be having an adverse reaction to the medications or have something else happening but with his small size the sooner he’s seen the better.
