My dog has a gas bubble and gastritis. Is it harmful or needs attention?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 8.8 lbs

My chiweenie, Selene, was a rescue. She was skinny when she was found and fostered by a couple then I adopted her. Now that she has some weight on her, she has thrown up and burped. My vet thought it was gastritis. They also x-rayed her and saw a bubble they thought was a gas bubble. They gave us medicine to help her and it does help. I've also put her on chicken and brown rice, plain pasta, and plain mashed potatoes. Will the gas bubble harm her or do we need to do something now?

As long as Selene is eating and not vomiting I would not be too worried about the gas. If it is affecting her appetite and she begins to lose weight then I would be concerned. If Selene continues to have issues like this she may need to be on a long term medication to help her digestion and/or a special diet. I hope this helps.
