My puppy has white bumps in mouth. Are they contagious to dogs?

Hello, Yesterday I was playing with my dog who is 8 months old. I noticed that he has these little white bumps all in his mouth. I have a picture of 2 if the on one side but the other side he wouldn’t let me get. He has around 10 or so all in his mouth and 3 little ones on his lips. What could this be? I have a 6 and 10 year old dog as well, should I be worried?

This is Papillomavirus. This is more common in young dogs and the majority of the time you just have to let the virus work itself out of the system. If they start getting really bad we can try to treat. I wouldn't be too concerned about your older dogs especially if you were just playing with the puppy. It is very contagious but when dogs have a good immune system it is harder to get the virus, although not impossible. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
