My dog is suddenly sick, disoriented, and not eating. Is it poison?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 22 years and 7 months old | 25 lbs

I'm trying to assess if my dog is poisoned. For 2 days she's done a complete 180 in everything. She's barely eating enough 2 stay alive. Difficulty urinating and with her bowels. I force fed her water today cuz shes not drinking any at all and she loves her water. No vomiting but looks completely disoriented and our of it. She's had difficulty walking and is lying down way more than usual. Please help me

Pokey sounds very ill and needs immediate veterinary treatment. This could be from poison or more likely an infection, metabolic problem or cancer. She definitely needs IV fluids to prevent dehydration which can become life threatening. In general with most poisons they would die quickly. Since this has been going on for a few days there is a good chance with proper treatment she could recover quickly. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Pokey.
