Kitten with fractured pelvis: Is sudden crying and biting due to pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 1lb

I have a foster kitten with a fractured pelvis. He is very sweet and loving and often pretty calm. Out of the blue he started crying a lot despite me offering food. He is on strict cage test so I reached in to just pet him a bit and comfort him and he started freaking out meowing loudly, moving all over and bit me really hard. Then after a few minutes he is calm and okay. Could this be from pain? Or could it have been a mild seizure? Hes about 5 weeks old

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. My guess would be pain. Any little tweak or trying to move too fast could be exruciating. I'm sure it goes without saying but a fractured pelvis is extremely painful and he should be on probably at least two pain medications given 2-3 times daily. If he is on less than that, talk to your vet about adding something on. (Even if he is on two, ask if another might be indicated.) Best wishes to you and the little guy.
