My diabetic cat has dandruff. Is it common and what should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 13 years and 3 months old | 10.5 lbs

Sumba requires very little grooming as he takes very good care of himself, but recently I did groom him before I took him to the vet (I am learning to give him insulin!) and I noticed a lot of flakes. Could he have dandruff? Is there something I can do for this not to serious problem

Diabetic cats often have a sort of greasy fur quality with dandruff. Once he is well regulated on insulin this should improve. I do not think you have to worry. And I wish you lots of success. The injections are not so hard to give (I give my kitty his injection while he eats...he does not even notice it)
