It looks as if your dog is having hair loss, probably from excessive itching/licking/scratching. There is probably an underlying problem like flea, an allergy or skin mites causing the issue. I would recommend taking Craig in to see your veterinarian to determine what exactly is going on and get some medication to help with the itch. I hope this helps.
