Why does my dog rub or shake their nose after sniffing a bug?

Just was curious why would a dog throw their nose around after sniffing an insect?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! My guess is that the insect secreted something that smelled or tasted bad to deter your dog from harming it! Or your dog licked it and it tasted bad. Some insects have defense mechanisms like that. Have a good day!
