Cat ate peppermint oil 30 hours ago. When do signs appear?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 15 years and 6 months old | 10 lbs

How long does it typically take for a cat to show signs/symptoms of poisoning? My cat may have eaten some peppermint oil about 30 hours ago now and she still seems perfectly fine.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach, I would have expected to see some clinical signs at this point so Morgan is very likely out of the woods. I would monitor for the next 24 hours for signs of trouble breathing, weakness, inappetance, vomiting, diarrhea and seizures or tremors, as these are all signs of Peppermint Toxicity, however she should have displayed signs by this point if it was going to become clinical. Best of luck with Morgan!
