Bell had her anal glands expressed yesterday noon. She passed quite a bit of blood in the evening on three occasions. Her urine seemed clear this morning. Should I be concerned?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If she passed blood in her urine then that would be concerning for things that can affect the urinary tract such as a urinary tract infection, urine stones or even a tumor. Further diagnostics would include a urine culture and abdominal imaging. I recommend that you have Bell evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!

When there is persistent inflammation usually an infection or possibly even a small tumor inside the anal gland tissue is suspected and should be ruled out as soon as possible. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed.
