My dog has itchy skin and wounds. How can I treat the infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female

Doc, what is the cause of this wounds? She keeps on scratching it like a lot. Our neighbors told us about this some kind of injection to treat this skin disease they call it albomine, I didn't say yes to it because I'm not sure of it since my dog is a mix breed. So i came up with this herbal soap with guava and madre de cacao I'm still observing the the effect of the soap. But I want to seek help and advice from an expert like you on what should I do to treat them. Also the effect of albomine.

It looks as if your dog has a skin infection. These are usually caused by allergies and/or fleas. Their skin becomes itchy and the more your dog scratched and chews at the skin the more infected it will become. You will need to treat the infection (usually with antibiotics) and treat the itch. Common medications to help with itch include Cytopoint, Apoquel and steroids. I am not familiar with the medication albomine so I can’t help you with that. I would recommend taking your dog to the veterinarian to be checked out and to see if any of the medications mentioned above can help. Best of luck.
