Dog limping, fever, not eating; vet found nothing. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 9 lbs

My dog has been to my Vet and they can’t find anything wrong. First seen because all of a sudden she was holding her left hind leg up and had trouble moving about, Dr placed her on Novax for pain. Iit then became progressively worse over the weekend and she could not hardly move started to not drink or eat. Still went to the bathroom when I would place her in the yard. Mon took her to vet again, X-rays came back fine, blood work was fine a bit elevated in white blood cells, she had a fever 104 ,

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Gidget! How old is Gidget? Have they tested her for Lyme disease or other tick born diseases? That should be done. Other possibilities are immune medicated joint disease or meningitis but Lyme disease is very high on my list. Good luck!
