My 6-month-old German Shepherd puppy is small. Will he grow to full height?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 16 days old

My dog is a German shepherd. But his mother is a mix with a Bohemian shepherd. She's about 21inch tall. And his dad is a German shepherd full breed pure black. My question is, my dog is 6 and the half month old and he is just 20inch tall about 50cm. Am worried he would be short and won't reach an average German shepherd height. Do you think he would grow taller ? if yes how many inches do taller do u think he would grow just an advice am really worried. I know it's a hard choice just your guess

Grown up size of a doog depends on genetics and nutrition. You can help your dog grow to his full potential by feeding him a good quality complete puppy food for large dogs. Some dogs will stay on the smaller side within the breed sprectrum. This does not take away from them. You do not want to make your dog grow taller faster than nature wants him to grow, as you make him prone to bone problems. Your dog will still grow for about another year to 18 months. Be patient.
