Cat flea allergy sores: Can I apply Revolution higher to avoid pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Male | neutered | 7 years and 1 month old | 13 lbs

My male cat has an allergy to fleas and his neck is covered in sores. I need to apply Revolution is it ok to apply a little higher on head? Will it go down and get into the open sores? I am just worried it will be painful for him. He also received an injection of Convenia on 7/26- should his sores still be this bad?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The good thing about Revolution is that it does not tend to travel or move much once it is applied. I recommend that you do apply it at least a few inches away from the sores. Good luck and have a good night!
