My dog ate roach bait. Is it toxic? What should I do immediately?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 10.8 lbs

I left my dog inside while I went and mowed grass and I came back there was a combat roach bait that the dog chewed up. Is there anything I can do?

The roachbait is not toxic to dogs. The only problem dogs have with the bait is the bait box if they swallow it. It could cause an intestinal obstruction or blockage. So, if Gretchen did not eat the baitstation/box, she should be alright. Seems like roach bait smells goooood to dogs, too!

Roach bait is very low on the toxicity scale. He would need to ingest an enormous amount to be at risk of serious toxicity. What is more dangerous than the bait is the plastic housing. This can cause internal injuries or an obstruction if a dog is able to swallow it.
