Can Petco vets issue international travel certificates for cats?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 14 lbs

Moving from USA to Germany, my 2 year old cat needs an EU micro chip (ISO compliant 11784 and 11785) and a rabbit shot. Are Petco vet's able to help me with that? and are they able to write me and official veterinary certification? and how much are the costs? Best, Giulia

Unfortunately, Petco veterinarians do not issue travel certificates. You will need to make an appointment at a veterinary clinic or hospital with a veterinarian that is USDA accredited. This vet can perform an exam and issue a travel certificate for international travel as well as microchip and vaccinate Jefe. The timing of vaccination and microchipping is critical regarding travel, so review the qualifications closely before doing anything. The rules for traveling internationally with a pet can be labyrinthine, so contacting the USDA as well as the German consulate to confirm everything is in order for your trip is strongly recommended.
