How to calm a restless 9-month-old puppy that won't sleep at night?

Afternoon, I just got this new puppy and hes a Brittany spinal / hound we think. hes 9 months old and he wont sleep at all and wont chill out I take him out to play /walk/exercise him and hes whinning a lot.

It's pretty common for new puppies Buddy's age to take a few weeks to transition to their new environment. These are two high energy breeds, and 9 months old tends to be a very active time for puppies. I would recommend exercising him as much as you can during the day - an hour or two of moderate exercise would be great. Work on teaching some behaviors like sit, look at me, and go to your place every day. Ignore whining as much as you can - whining is an attention seeking behavior and even a negative response can reinforce the behavior.
