Why is my dog skinny, not eating, vomiting, lethargic, bloody urine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 5 months old

My dog has become very skinny, he isn't eating but a nibble, and pukes that up every once in a bit, is being lethargic and has spots of blood in his urine. He did the same thing about a year ago when I left him with a different person, but that was someone else, somewhere else. What's going on? Is he sick? Is he protesting me leaving him? What is it?

This sounds more like your dog has a chronic gastro-intestinal problem such as food intolerance, gastritis, chronic or acute pancreatitis, food indiscretion, or even a tumor, liver disease. He also may have a chrionic infection somewhere, e.g. in his prostate, which could be the cause of the blood in his urine, or kidney disease. The signs are too unspecific to pinpoint a cause, so you need to take Potato to your vet for an exam and blood work, and possibly xrays. Please make an appointment right away.
