Is human chafing cream suitable for my dog's severe thigh rash?

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 70 lbs

My Dog has a severe rash between his thighs it looks a lot like when humans develop a bad case of chaffing very similar .. I have a cream for humans called DERMAID 1% , would this cream that is very effective on humans be suitable for dogs.. ? This cream clears a bad case of chaffing relieving all traces of chaffing in humans practically overnight

I am sorry to hear about your dog. This medication appears to have hydrocorisone as an active ingredient. This will help decrease inflammation of the skin, but often in these cases if this is an ongoing rash there is a secondary bacterial or yeast infection in the area. You could try the dermaid but often with cremes a dog will lick it off and then it doesn't have enough contact time with the skin, so I would consider putting an e-collar on her if she is licking at the area. You could also try a medicated shampoo such as Duoxo chlorhexidine shampoo. If this isn't improving then a trip to the vet is recommended.
