My hamster has an infected facial abscess. What can I do at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Unknown - Small Animal | Female

I have a hamster who has developed an abces on her face. I know she didn't break a tooth. It either looks like a bite or she some how cut herself and it got infected. What do I do? I don't have the money to take her to the vet.

I'm sorry your hamster is sick. If the abscess is open and draining, you can use warm compresses to help it drain. But really, she needs antibiotics and possibly for a very to drrain it. These are just not things you can do at home.
