Dog not eating, lethargic after parvo death. Parvo or depression?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 40 lbs

My Jack Russell hasnt eaten for 2 days , he drank some water earlier but thats about it , he just wants to sleep , hes uninterested in everything that use to excite him , just not acting his normal self . Hes not begging for food he doesn't wanna leave my room before i could barely get him to leave my side .. We currently lost our 3 month old pit to parvo , hes been acting that way since about 3 days after he died .. Is there a chance he has parvo or could he just be depressed .

Hi. Im sorry for your loss. Apache's behavior is definitely concerning. If he isn't fully vaccinated by your veterinarian, then parvo is possible yes. Depressed over the loss to a degree is possible too. Unfortunately, without an exam, more history, maybe some diagnostics, it is impossible to say for sure. I'd get him in to be seen
