How to help my new kitten adjust to her new home and stop crying?

I have a new kitten. Couple months old. Siamese. Female. Shes been here for about 23 hours. How do I help her get used to her new home? She cries all night and day so far. She eats, drinks, and uses her pan. She cries in her sleep too.

Congrats on your new kitten! It's very good that she is eating, drinking, and uses her litter box. It will take her time to adjust to her new place, as moving to a new home is stressful. She is showing she is adjusting by eating, drinking, and using the litter box. I would give her attention as much as possible, playing with her and showing her love. This will make the adjustment less stressful, and show her that her new home is a comfortable place to live. I'd also get her a cat tree and set it up by a window. She can use it as a scratching post, and can sit on the levels to look out the window. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Halley. I would place her in a small quiet room when she comes to your room. Place her food and water in one area and the litter box as far away as possible. Give her time alone to adjust to her surroundings. Then you can try to offer her affection, treats or playtime with toys. Every kitten is different in the amount of time it takes to settle into a new home. Be patient and she should adjust just fine. It can take your kitten a week or two to acclimate to its new surroundings. He has to get used to his new environment and used to the fact that he's not around his littermates and mother anymore. Just keep giving him plenty of attention and affection and he should be fine in no time.

Congrats on your new kitten! Moving to a new home is very stressful, and adding on flying to this new home, and Adelaide will be very stressed. It will take her a couple of days to get used to her new home. She may be coming out at night when you are asleep, and I would make sure to leave out food and water at all times for her to have when she decides to come out. I would leave her be for now, don't try to get her to come out to you, she will come out in her own time. Leave out some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) or you can soak her kitten food in tuna juice to tempt her to eat. When you do see her moving around, don't make sudden movements towards her, or make a big deal of it. Ignore her until she comes to you, and gently give her pets and praise. Be patient, it will take time for her to adjust, but she will get used to her new home :-)

I would leave her alone for now, allow her to get used to the sights and smells of her new home. When she does come out, praise her and offer her a treat or a toy to play with to show her coming out and interacting is a good thing that will be rewarded. As time passes, she should feel more and more comfortable with coming out, and the treats and toys will make that more enticing as well. Hello, and congratulations on your new kitty! It is not unusual for new cats to hide in the first few days after arriving at their new home. I would provide a bit of food and water in the nook where she is hiding, and gradually try to increase your interactions with her over the next few days and weeks. For example, you can try offering her a tasty treat in her nook, and let her sniff your hand. Provide other safe nooks in the house that she can choose from. Offer two litter boxes in two separate, quiet areas, and close to where she is hiding. Eventually, she should know that your presence means food, safety and companionship, and she will come out of her shell. You can also consider a kitty pheromone spray called Feliway, which can help to reduce stress for cats in new environments. With patience and diligence, I am sure that Salem will eventually come out of her shell! Good luck and I hope this helps!

Moving into a new home can be very stressful for kittens - since she has only been with you for 4-5 days, it's likely that she's still adjusting and getting settled. It will take time for her to feel safe and comfortable in your home, so I would be patient for now and give her plenty of time to adjust. You can try using Feliway pheromone diffusers around the house to help make her feel more at-ease, as well as a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure if she seems anxious.

Moving into a new home is often frightening for a kitten, and it will take time for Amber to get used to her new home and you. I would give her lots of love and attention when she approaches you, including treats. This shows her that coming up to you is a good thing. Give her treats when she allows you to touch her. I would not try to approach her yourself, allow her to come to you. As she becomes adjusted to her home, she will eventually allow you to approach her.

It's lovely of you to take Rikku in and give her a home! I would give her space and time to get used to living in your home. To keep her safe and from running away, I would keep her indoors, as that will help her adjust better. It will also keep her from getting attacked by other animals. Make sure you have a litter box for her. Moving into a new home is stressful, and it will take time and patience for her to adjust. Give her love when she approaches you, and if she seem stressed out, give her space. I would get her a cat tree, and set it up near a window so she could climb up it and watch the world outside. As for a diet, I would feed her a high quality cat food, such as Royal Canin or Hills Science diet.

I just got my kitten yesterday and she won't eat drink or use litter box.
It may take your new kitten time to get used to her new surroundings. Try keeping her in a smaller area, like a bathroom, with her littler box and food/water. Being in closer proximity to them may encourage her to eat and use the box. You may also want to try offering her canned kitten food, as opposed to kibble. This may encourage her to eat more. When she does eventually defecate, if it is outside of the box, place the stool inside the box to help her learn where to go. If these tips are not working and your kitten is still refusing to eat or drink, you may want to consider taking her in to the vet to be checked out. I hope this helps. Poor Onyx! She sounds quite scared. I would continue to allow her to familiarize herself with her new environment and you as her new ‘human’. Some cats will be quite sociable from the outset, others take time to adjust to new surroundings. Provide her with plenty of hiding places where she can be safe, give her space to become acclimated, and ensure she has food and water available in a safe location. You can spend time just sitting on the floor near her, maybe tease her with a toy on a string and see if you can coax her closer. Take it nice and slow with her and I suspect that soon she will be bouncing all over the house!
