What to put on dog's ripped nose from digging that's safe to lick?

My dog keeps digging in the blankets to hide his done and ripped a layer of skin on his nose. Is there anything I can put on it that won’t harm him if he licks it off? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 70 lbs

With that location, anything you put on his nose will be licked off almost immediately, so you are correct that you want something safe. I also try to use products that are not particularly tasty, so they lick less (so I don't like coconut oil products). My favorite product is simply Vitamin E. You can poke a hole in the capsule and apply the oil directly to the area. There are some topical Vitamin E salves that are safe as well, but you have to read the ingredients carefully. Good luck!
