My dog took double doxycycline. Should I skip days or continue?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 13 years and 2 months old | 8 lbs

I misread my dog’s prescription med for doxycycline. I gave her 2 tablets instead of once a day as prescribed. She is a chihuahua. Dosage is 50mg.. Do I skip several days or just continue as prescribed. Once a day. She has been taking it 2x a day. Thank you.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You can just continue it as prescribed if she is tolerating it well. There would not be any need to skip it for a certain amount of time before continuing. She is adorable! Good luck and have a great day!
