Why is my cat lethargic, not eating, and struggling to swallow?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 lbs

My cat has been lethargic the past 4 or 5 days, eating & drinking less & is now acting like she is having difficulties swallowing. I noticed the swallowing issue starting to happen a couple of days ago. I just started giving her hairball gel today; this is an outside stray cat & she has never been to a vet. Have never noticed this happening to her in the 6 years I've had her.

It would be best to bring Mimi to a vet for an exam. It is possible she has something stuck in her throat, is experiencing illness, or is having dental/mouth problems that are affecting her ability to swallow or eat, especially if she is also lethargic.
