My outdoor pet soaks in its water bowl. Is this safe in hot weather?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Okay so I have explained that Loki stays outside in a cage. The past week its been 103°F nd he has been spending a lot of time in his water bowl. Is it okay for him to soak in his water bowl most of the day? Should I limit his water nd only put his bowl in his cage a few hours at a time?

He can stay in his bowl, but be sure it has clean water in it as they often defecate while soaking. You should also provide a hide or shelter for him as well. Do not leave his cage in direct sunlight as this could result in temps that are too high and possibly dangerous.
