Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | 2 months and 9 days old
I saw signs of blood in my cat's stool today morning (just a little). Should I be worried? He is 2 months old. He eats dry cat food and hasn't had any lose of appetite. He eats well and is very active too and also gets enough sleep. I fed him few pieces of chicken yesterday (maybe that caused some digestive problems?). He also sneezes occasionally. Other than this he looks totally fine.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ace. The blood on his stool may be the result of intestinal parasites and should be evaluated by his veterinarian. He could also be experiencing GI upset from trying chicken. Finally, straining to defecate can cause blood in the stool. Regardless of the cause, it can become serious as the bleeding can allow bacteria from the colon access to the bloodstream. He may require a medication. The sneezing can be evaluated at the same time to ensure he is not coming down a respiratory tract infection. I hope this information helps!

Blood in the stool can be a sign of intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, or viral infection, including panleukopenia. If it does not happen again, she will probably be ok. However, if she continues to have diarrhea, she should see a vet as soon as possible as kittens this young can get dehydrated extremely quickly. Also, abandoned kittens are more likely to have infectious disease and she may need prescription medications to resolve the cause of the diarrhea.
