My dog is still itchy after Advantix. When should I call the vet?

I applied Advantix on my dog Saturday night and by the next morning he's been very itchy. He rolls around on the floor to scratch and seems to be the worse around his butt. I've giving him a bath and benadryl and it seemed to help but he's still miserable, how long does these side effects last and what do I need to keep an eye on and or take him to the vet? Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered | 3 years and 10 months old | 19 lbs

You are correct Stuart is showing signs of side effects from Advantix, which can last a bit. Once the product has been absorbed by the skin, you have to wait for the active ingredient to be eliminated from the body before the side effects stop. That's not to say that nothing can be done, and I do recommend taking him into the vet as he sounds uncomfortable. There may be medication the vet can prescribe to help with his itchiness.
